The Best Choice for the Environment

Today more buildings are being constructed and renovated with environmental consideration at the forefront. Going green has become a standard for both individuals and organizations, in fact over time it saves money while being conscious of your lasting footprint.

The sustainability and durability of polished and stained concrete floors are just two great examples of what this low-cost, low-maintenance alternative flooring provides. Exposed polished concrete floors conserve resources and acts as both a foundation and a finish. By utilizing the existing concrete we eliminate the need for carpet or other floor coverings that overtime will need to be replaced, ultimately ending up in our Austin landfills.

Moisture Remediation

When needed, we may recommend testing your concrete floors for moisture content and vapor emission prior to installation. Any moisture present can result in adhesive failures, mold buildup, or mildew growth, which ultimately can lead to product delaminating, curling and or bubbling. The testing method used for moisture is ASTM F1869 to check for calcium chloride and ASTM F2170 to check for relative humidity. These tests measure moisture emitted and contained in the concrete. The test takes approximately 60-72 hours and requires the environment to remain at 75°F (± 10°F) with a relative humidity of 50% (± 10%) for 48 hours prior to and during each test. Our product and installation warranties require a minimal moisture content, contamination, and emission levels to be maintained before, during, and after installation and if these conditions aren’t met, then your warranty is voided. Because of this, we work to ensure there are no moisture problems. That’s why ATX loves Austin Stained Concrete, we take care of our customers.

Surface Prep, Floor Leveling and Removal

During concrete renovation projects it’s not uncommon to find a floor pitted, cracked, or un-level. In order for us to achieve the best installation we use leveling underlays like Gypsum, or self-leveling cementitious products. By following a consistent process during each install we achieve the best results for each project.

Before we get started we will:

  • Identify any flatness or issues
  • Select and recommend a product
  • Provide a fair and reasonable quote
  • Provide a quote for demo and removal, if needed.
  • Finally flatten the floor if needed

Our team at Austin Stained Concrete will prep your concrete floor for its new surface using our concrete grinders, but the job doesn't end there:

  • We remove mastic, carpet glue, VCT, linoleum glue, and any old underlayments
  • We smooth out and clean older concrete for a final finish
  • We remove any old epoxy coating or concrete stain and seal
  • We expose aggregate within the concrete before sealing
  • We profile floors to receive new epoxy or urethane coating.
  • We will use state of the art equipment to ensure the best quality, while mitigating the amount of dust produced as a result of demolition of existing floor coverings.
